We have always been told that animal testing was necessary for things that we use everyday, and even for medical usage. But is this right?
Animals don't have the ability to respond to things the way that humans do, so people think that it is okay to perform harsh long tests on them. Statistically 95% of pharmaceutical drugs that are tested on animals aren't safe for humans to use, or they don't work on humans. With this being said, why do people think that it is necessary to keep using animals for testing and torturing them?
The use of animal testing is unethical, inefficient and inhumane. Animals are tortured in labs and die everyday for things like pesticides, cosmetics, and human medication. There should be a more efficient way to test the products we need without harming other living things, just because they can not respond back to it. As technology is advancing, hopefully a different method for testing products is found.
I completely agree. Although, I do not research enough to think of a good alternative, there needs to be one. As years go by, it should be more of a priority to rid of animal testing. Your questions and comments is very valid.
ReplyDeleteIt is also a proven fact that there are other and better ways to test human products and drugs without harming animals. I believe that scientists still use animal testing because they are closely related to humans so they think they will react to drugs and/or products the same way a human would.
ReplyDeleteI agree that animals should not be used for testing. There are many different ways scientists could conduct their research, and the only reason they continue to use animals is because they are the cheapest option.
ReplyDeleteI also agree on the fact that animal testing is inhumane. Scientists now have so many other resources to test their new products, so they can easily get rid of the animal testing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your stance on animal testing. Animals around the country are in anguish and pain from being locked up in a cage where there is a complete lack of environmental enrichment and stress. There are many alternative to do non-animal testing methods, which are also cheaper, faster, and more humane. Overall, I agree with the fact that there should be no more need to use animals for testing because of the technological advancement.

ReplyDeleteThis topic is a very sore subject to many people but I have a different view than you on this. Since you said that 95% of the drugs that are used aren't safe on humans that makes me nervous for ourselves. I would rather them test drugs on rats and mice like that than human but the standard "pet" I don't think that's right to use them for testing at all. They defiantly can find a better way to practice the drugs.
ReplyDeleteI think the testing is beneficial as important things come from the testing. Also the tests give treatments to both animals and humans so both groups are being benefited. They also do the best they can. to make the animal suffer the least amount and only use animals when they have to.
