School vs Gun

When you think of firearms, what is the first thing you think of? The first thing I think of is school shooting and I think that is awful that, that is even an option for something to think about in the topic of firearms. School shootings have become such a common thing today that children have started to fear that they may not return home after school. There have been 24 school shooting just in Indiana alone since the Columbine incident. That does not even include all the other states in the United States. It took a couple teenagers dying from vapes for them to start getting banned. Hundreds of children and teens have died from school shooting yet gun laws still have not been changed. How many lives is it going to take for the laws to change?

  1. When I think about the question of whether or not firearms should be legal i also think about mass shootings. It's not only school shooting that I think of though, there have been many mass shootings in our society over the past two decades like the concert that was shot up in Las Vegas, or the movie theater that was shot up during a batman movie by a guy who was dressed up like the joker. I don't know how many more mass shooting need to happen or how many more people need to die before the laws are changed surrounding firearms but i definitely agree that something needs to be done about it.

  2. When i think of guns i think of a tool. Theres a right way to use a tool and a wrong way to use one. I think mass shootings are terrible but to blame guns entirely is just plain wrong. and to use your example of vaping, the people that are dying are mainly underage kids, but vaping is illegal for them right? so how do they get the vapes? illegally. just like vaping people will get guns illegally just like they do now. There have also been mass murders of of things like people using cars, or knives, or even 9/11. Its not fact of guns are killing people. its bad people with a deadly tool in there hands, and with them being illegal or not they will get there hands on them. So by changing the laws and restricting gun ownership or even places where they can be carried youre taking away from the good people who own them legally and will use them for good like preventing mass shootings. but if a good person cant own a gun then how is someone going to stop a bad guy that obtained a gun and carrying a gun in a illegal place.

  3. Yes, I totally agree that a change needs to take place. Mental health background checks could make a good impact, but it’s difficult to tell. I really hope the big leaders take this more seriously. There has to be a reasonable plan that may not prevent all shooting from ever happening but at least 1 is a good place to start. We will do whatever it takes to protect our country for foreign countries, but what about our our people and what is going on day after day.

  4. I think that more laws and regulations should be put in place to help prevent firearms being in the wrong hands. I think that background checks and mental health assessments should be one of the first things someone has to go through when trying to get a gun. I also think that this topic does need to be taken more seriously, every time there is a shooting political leaders go on national television and say what a tragedy it is, but nothing more. Many shootings could be prevented if this topic was taken more seriously.

  5. The problem with this topic is that people really think the gun is the problem during these mass shooting incidents. the problem is the mental health issue that is effecting the shooter and making him do what he is doing. the lack of parenting and masculinity in a home growing up can take a toll on someone as a person and make them do horrible things like mass shootings. If we ban guns they are not going to stop acquiring them considering they are criminals. People overdose on heroin everyday but it is illegal to the fullest extent. what makes you think the criminals are going to follow the gun laws?

  6. The problem might also be accesesbility of guns for the parents of the kids. Since guns are legal to own in the US, kids can grow up in the presence of a gun, and they might find it normal that there is a gun in their shed, which increases the chance they get a gun on a later age.

  7. I agree with you on the fact that more laws should be put in place. It is crazy how many opportunities there are for harm to happen in a school setting that is supposed to be a safe place. People in this world that have power should start expressing the dangers of guns and place more regulations and checks on guns and the process of getting them.
